With the upcoming release of the 7th film in the Star Wars franchise, we thought we would take the opportunity to take a look at the top Star Wars filming locations. The list was long, ranging from Guatemala to China but we have narrowed down our top 7 and here they are!
7. Plaza de España, Seville, Spain: Naboo city of Theed. What a magical looking location!
6. Pang Gna Bay, Thailand: Aerial footage of limestone karst mountains which was later composited into the film for the approach over the Battle of Kashyyyk. Beautiful but still there’s better to come…
5. Hardangerjøkulen Glacier , Norway: Exterior scenes during the battle of Hoth.
4. Onk Jemal, Tunisia: Location of the lightsaber duel between Qui-Gonn Jinn & Darth Maul.
3. Death Valley, USA: Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes – scene where R2D2 goes his separate way after he and C3P0 crash their escape pod on Tatooine, Desolation Canyon – Canyon where Tusken Raiders mount Bantha before Luke Skywalker is attacked and many many more…
2. Guilin, China: Footage of limestone Karst mountains which was later composited into the film for the backdrop of Kashyyyk. One of the best filming locations but not quite…
1. Skellig Michael, Kerry, Ireland: Still unknown what part of the latest film has been filmed in Ireland but with views like this, how could we not rate it as number 1? 🙂
