Day 3
The 7,419 yard Palmerstown House Golf Course presents players with feelings of tradition, excellence and quality. The challenging course is set amidst thousands of mature trees that boast a variety of colour throughout all four seasons, and each hole has its own individual charm. The course’s designer, Christy O’Connor Jr., is undoubtedly best known for his magnificent golfing exploits on the course, but over a short period of time he has also earned a formidable reputation as a golf course designer. His work at Palmerstown house is some of his best, however. In his own words: “It has to be one of the best sites in the world and reminds me of going of through the gates of Augusta and up Magnolia Lane at the Masters. It was probably one of the easiest jobs I have had to do. The beautiful mature trees, lakes and bridges that were used as the entrance into the estate are incorporated into the golf course. It is a fantastic spectacle.”
